I am a fifty-five year old woman living in Maysville, Kentucky. with my husband, 9 horses, 3 dogs, and 7 cats. I grew up in the suburbs so owning a horse was not a possibility for me. I can not begin to explain where or when my fascination with horses started. My first real chance to own a horse was when my younger daughter was old enough to join 4H. I encouraged her to join a Horse Club, because there was no horse club for me. For the next 10 years I was a 4H mom, grooming at the shows, driving my daughter to lessons and paying for the tack. I'm sure that a lot of you moms out there get the picture.

When my daughter left for college we kept her two horses. They are still with us. They are both quarter horses twenty and twenty-three years old. We have had them fifteen years now and they are like part of the family.

Eight years ago we moved from Ohio to Kentucky where we purchased two-hundred-twenty acres of land. You know what that meant? Yep, more horses. We bought our first Rocky Mountain soon after and the love affair began. I now have 7 Rockies with another foal due in April. I pretend that
I breed them to sell but I haven't been able to part with any of them so far.

I was so excited to find the Red Hats & Purple Chaps group. I have always wanted to ride in parades and spend more time with like minded women. I SO believe in the spirit of Jenny Joseph's Warning. I'm ready to cut loose, cut up, act silly, laugh too loud, wear clothes that don't match, make up that's not perfect, muddy boots, eat too much, stay out too late, spend too much money on myself (for a change,) and dance like nobody's watching.
